Hello, I’m Georgie
I’m a digital illustrator living in Cornwall, creating playful, imperfect art inspired by the little things that make everyday life feel good.
Flowers on the table. A really good coffee. A shell picked up on a walk. Fresh pyjamas and clean bedding. A funny sign. A dog stretched out in a patch of sunshine. The colours you spot together somewhere and immediately want to paint.
They’re ordinary things, really. But they’re the things that make a day feel a little nicer, and they’re usually where my ideas begin.
Art inspired by the things that make me happy
I’ve never been very good at sticking to one subject, and I’ve realised I don’t really want to.
Some days I want to paint flowers. Other days it might be butterflies, coffee, food, shells, dogs, something for a child’s bedroom or just a colour combination I can’t stop thinking about.
What connects it all is the feeling behind it.
I make art from things that make me feel happy, comforted, amused or at home, and I hope that when one of my prints ends up on your wall, it gives you a little bit of that feeling too.
My work is digitally painted on my iPad, with lots of texture, imperfect marks and playful colour. I like things to feel human rather than overly polished, because homes aren't perfect either.
Made for real homes
I love homes that feel properly lived in.
Flowers on the kitchen table, plants everywhere, music playing, candles burning, kids or friends wandering in and out, something cooking and probably a dog asleep somewhere they shouldn't be.
Whether your walls are full of colour or mostly neutral, I think the things you put around you should mean something to you.
Not because they perfectly match an interiors trend. Simply because you saw them and thought, “Oh, I love that.”
That’s what I want my art to be.
A little reminder of something you love. Something that brings personality to a room. Something you walk past on an ordinary Tuesday and it still makes you smile.
A little bit about me
I’m Georgie, an artist, designer and mum based by the coast in Cornwall.
Art has always been one of the things that makes me feel calm and comforted, and living here gives me a constant supply of things to notice: wildflowers, shells, strange colour combinations, coastal walks and all the slightly scruffy, beautiful bits of nature in between.
But Cornwall is only one little part of my inspiration.
Most of it comes from everyday life: family, home, food, flowers, coffee, my sausage dog Ronnie, things my daughter loves and whatever happens to catch my attention that day.
And that’s really what Georgie King Designs is about.
